What is ISO 14001?

ISO 14001 is an international global standard for environmental management. ISO 14001 provides a framework that manages the long term environmental impact an organisation creates from products, services and processes.

The implementation of an environmental management system like ISO 14001 can help a company protect the environment more efficiently, prevent pollution and ensuring a legal compliance is being held all while delivering both financial and operational benefits to your organisation.

Why has ISO 14001 been updated?

ISO 14001 was first established 20 years ago and during that time has only been revised once in 2004. Since then much has changed. In recent years we have seen devastating affects all around the world including Ireland with floods that crippled west of Ireland in 2015. Increasing temperatures, increased rainfall plus higher sea levels all clear sign that methods to tackle climate change need to be improved.

The ISO committee updated the ISO 14001 standard in order to keep the EMS requirements current and relevant for the world we live in today.  ISO 14001:2015 has been updated and designed to respond to new initiatives and environmental concepts.

I couldn’t just stop my learning process…i was glued to the Instructor’s explanation…I took some valuable notes. It was made simple and properly timed; and much thanks for the quizzing. My overall learning experience was superb! It’ll really be helpful. I appreciate the idea of going through this training for a full year (364 days). I wish to get back again and again.
